Mail-in rebate programs can range from furnaces and air conditioning to plumbing upgrades, green technologies and heat pumps; you may even be eligible for rebates on equipment already installed. Making smart choices when starting a home improvement or renovation project and utilizing government rebates can make your dollar work harder. All Ontario

The Enbridge Clean Home Heating Initiative

The 2023 Clean Home Heating Initiative is a pilot program run by Enbridge Gas in certain cities in Ontario; Pickering, Ajax, Whitby, Barrie Peterborough, St. Catharines, Sault Ste. Marie and London.

You could be eligible to receive up to a $3,000 mail-in-rebate for the purchase and installation of an air source heat pump or up to a $4,500 mail-in-rebate for the purchase and installation of a cold climate air source heat pump.

The program is designed to promote heat pumps combined with an energy-efficient gas furnace and a smart thermostat. These hybrid heating system will switch automatically back and forth between electricity and natural gas depending on energy costs and weather.

  1. Up to $6000 for a Heat Pump

CleanBC, BC Hydro and FortisBC offer rebates up to $6,000 for the purchase and installation of a rebate eligible heat pump, depending on how you currently heat your home.

FURNACE

Natural Gas Furnace Rebate from Fortis BC

Replace your old natural gas furnace with an eligible ENERGY STAR®️ model and you could qualify for a rebate of up to $1,000. Plus, if you install an eligible connected thermostat, you could qualify for an additional $150 rebate.

Before beginning work, make sure you qualify for this rebate by reviewing the Program Rebate Requirements, as outlined in the terms and conditions and the eligibility and rebate details below.

Natural Gas Wall Furnace Rebate

Install a wall furnace/direct vent room heater— and you may be eligible for a $700 dollar rebate. A wall furnace can be added to your home’s existing heating system to reach those cold spots, or provide cost-effective heating for a home where the ducts and venting required by a central heating system aren’t feasible. To be eligible you must submit a prequalification application before installation, product must meet BC code requirements, and the rebate is only eligible for existing homes. Add an eligible water heater to your upgrade for an additional $400 rebate.

WATER HEATER

Natural Gas Water Heater Rebate

BC Hydro, Fortis BC and CleanBC are working together to offer Home owners up to $1000 in rebates to upgrade their existing water heater to a qualifying natural gas ENERGY STAR®️ water heater.

  • $200 for storage tank,
  • or $1000 for a condensing tankless water heater,
  • or $1000 for condensing storage tank water heater

Applications must be submitted within six months of the paid invoice date. Only certain eligible water heaters qualify. The home must be a year-round primary residence at least 12 months old and be either a single-family, duplex, triplex, row home, townhouse or mobile home on a permanent foundation.

COMBINATION HEATING AND HOT WATER SYSTEM

Natural Gas Boiler and Combination Heating and Hot Water system

Replace your old natural gas boiler with an eligible ENERGY STAR®️ boiler and you could qualify for a $1,000 rebate. Or replace your old natural gas space heating system with an eligible combination heating and hot water system and you could qualify for a $1,500 rebate. The new boiler or combination system must be replacing an existing natural gas primary space heating system that’s a minimum of 10 years old. You must install an eligible ENERGY STAR boiler or an eligible combination heating and hot water system. The new boiler or combination system must be installed by a Technical Safety BC licensed gas contractor with a GST number and valid BC business license.

Home Renovation Tax Credit [10.5% Tax Credit}

Saskatchewan homeowners could save up to $2,100 in provincial income tax by claiming a 10.5 per cent tax credit on up to $20,000 of eligible home renovation expenses.

SaskEnergy Residential Rebates:

  1. Up to $650 for a furnace
  2. Up to $1,000 for water heater
  3. Up to $2,000 for a boiler

You may be eligible for up to *$5600 in rebates for the Cold Climate Air Source Heat Pump grant. Up to $5,000 is provided for equipment, and $600 for Energy Audit from a certified EnerGuide Advisor.
