FortisBC Dual Fuel Heat Pump Rebates in BC

If you’re thinking about replacing an older furnace, it’s a great time to look at your whole home comfort system. A dual fuel setup gives you a heat pump that keeps you cool in the summer and warm when the weather cools, plus a gas furnace that steps in for those really cold snaps.

Eligible BC customers replacing a gas furnace that is at least 15 years old may qualify for up to $4,000 in FortisBC rebates, while income-qualified households may be eligible for up to an additional $4,000 – that’s a total of $8,000 in rebates through FortisBC’s income-qualified program.

Plus, for a limited time, Reliance Home Comfort® is offering an extra $1,700 off select dual fuel heat pump systems.* That’s additional savings on top of any eligible FortisBC rebate you receive.

That means you could save up to $9,700!*

We’re here to walk you through your equipment options, installation details, rebate opportunities and program requirements so you can make the best choice for your home.

What Is a Dual Fuel Heat Pump System?

A dual fuel system combines an electric heat pump with a gas furnace. The heat pump cools your home in the summer and provides heat when it’s mild outside. When it gets colder, the system automatically switches to the gas furnace to keep you comfortable.

You don’t need to switch between them yourself, and you don’t have to give up gas heating to add a heat pump. The two work together as one heating and cooling system.

Electric Heat Pump

Cools your home in the summer and provides heat when it’s mild outside.

Switches automatically as the temperature drops

Gas Furnace

Takes over when it gets colder to keep you comfortable through cold snaps.

How Much Could You Save?

FortisBC dual fuel rebateUp to $4,000* total
FortisBC income-qualified dual fuel rebateUp to $8,000* total
Reliance promotional discount$1,700*

The Reliance discount is included in the promotionally discounted purchase price. The FortisBC rebate requires a separate application, and you must independently qualify and receive approval. Additional Savings for Income-Qualified Households

Some homeowners may qualify for an even higher FortisBC rebate through the income-qualified program.

If your household income falls below FortisBC’s eligibility thresholds and you meet program requirements, you could qualify for up to $8,000 in FortisBC dual fuel heating system rebates, compared to the standard residential rebate of up to $4,000. This rebate is designed to help eligible households upgrade from an older gas furnace to a qualifying dual fuel heat pump and furnace system.

As with the standard rebate, you must independently apply, qualify and receive approval from FortisBC. Income verification and additional eligibility requirements apply.* Before purchasing equipment, review the current FortisBC program details and qualification criteria.

Good to know: Eligible income-qualified households may be able to receive up to $8,000 in FortisBC rebates, plus Reliance’s current $1,700 promotional discount on qualifying dual fuel systems.* That’s up to $9,700!

Replacing Your Furnace? Look at Your AC, Too

If your furnace is due for replacement and your air conditioner is showing its age, it might be the perfect time to look at both together. A heat pump can replace your old AC and give your home an extra way to stay warm.

Don’t have central air conditioning? This could be an opportunity to add it as part of your furnace upgrade, rather than treating heating and air conditioning as two separate projects.

Think about what’s not working in your home right now. Maybe you just want to plan ahead before your furnace gives out. Bring these concerns and any questions about equipment sizing, installation, or what’s included in your quote to your consultation—we’re here to help.

Here’s What Other Heat Pump Customers Have to Say.

Customer reviews from local homeowners.

“I am writing this because my grandma just had a furnace and a heat pump put in by Reliance. The sales rep Rob spent 3 hours with her walking her through everything and explained her access to rebates and options. She felt really taken care of and he answered all her questions even her ‘silly’ ones as she said. Glad to see a sales person who knows how to treat an older customer as a customer.”

“I’m a retired fellow now, been around long enough to know when folks aren’t really listening. These days, it seems like people are quick to brush off your questions, especially when you’re up in years. But I must say, that young man Sergey—he was a real breath of fresh air. Took the time to explain everything to me, plain and simple, no rush. Helped me sort out replacing our old furnace with a new one and even added a heat pump. I tell you, he was a true gentleman and a scholar—don’t see that kind of service much anymore.”

“I have been researching pros and cons of dual heating. Jigar was able to answer ALL (there was alot) the questions I had from the research I had done. We were able to make a decision to buy because of him. Very professional informative and personable. I hope the installers next week and future service I have will be as excellent as Jigar.”

“Our 18-year-old furnace, and our A/C wasn’t performing properly either. The team at Reliance went above and beyond to explain all of our options and help us choose the right solution. From Jignesh in sales to the entire installation crew, everyone was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. The installation was completed smoothly, and we couldn’t be happier with our new heat pump. We’re confident our new furnace will keep us warm and comfortable when the colder months arrive. Thank you to the whole Reliance team for the excellent service! Highly recommended!”
