Returning Your Reliance® Rental Water Heater

If you’re planning to remove your Reliance rental water heater, there are a few important steps. 

Before you start:

We’ll help confirm your account and tank details to avoid delays or issues with returning the unit and ending your rental agreement. 

You can also follow the steps outlined on this page. But please note — if the process isn’t followed correctly, it could lead to delays or complications in finalizing your return and cancellation. 

If someone else is acting on your behalf, such as an agent, they must provide a valid agency appointment signed by the account holder to proceed. All customers or their agents should review the tabs below to ensure they are adhering to Reliance termination, agency and return processes. 

Important: Your rental water heater agreement may contain specific terms and conditions related to termination. Before removing the water heater, please carefully review these terms or contact us at 1-866-767-1702 for assistance with any questions.

Tell Us Why You’re Leaving

If you are renting a Reliance water heater and decide to cancel your agreement for any reason, you need to inform us by completing the Notice of Termination form.

Notice for Agents: 

If you are providing this Notice of Termination on behalf of a Reliance® account holder, please be aware that we will require a valid agency agreement to be provided to us within 7 days of the earlier of

(i) the date of the agency agreement or

(ii) the date of the customer’s new water heater agreement. Reliance is not required to act on any agent’s instructions, including accepting water heaters from agents, without receipt of a valid agency agreement.

The Reliance account holder should contact Reliance at 1-866-767-1702 to confirm account and tank details necessary for the return process. If your agent is returning the water heater on your behalf, an Agency Agreement form needs to be completed and submitted. See the attached agency agreement for details.
