What is a Carbon Offset?
Canadians need to heat their homes. And while natural gas is a cleaner burning fuel compared to heating oil or propane, there is still a carbon footprint associated with the use of natural gas.
Carbon offsets can help mitigate the impact by providing critical funding to support emissions reduction and environmentally friendly technologies. It’s a simple and affordable way to make a difference.
How does the Carbon Offset Heating Program work?
Reliance has teamed up with Carbonzero to offer carbon offset credits to our customers. Carbonzero assists organizations, governments, individuals and NGOs to measure, manage, and mitigate their climate impact while supporting projects that protect nature and give back to local communities.
Here’s how it works:
- With the installation of a SmartAir™ Green Series product, you can now purchase accredited carbon credits at a low rate of $4.99/month*.
- The fee is used by Reliance to purchase accredited offsets from Carbonzero at a low rate.
- These credits helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate the effects of climate change.
Our goal is to offset 5000 tons of carbon emissions annually. But we can’t do it without you!
