How To Tell If Your Toilet Is Leaking
If you hear that your toilet is running even when it’s not being used, or that it runs longer than usual after you flush, you probably have a leaky toilet. But sometimes, the only thing you notice is a spike in your water bill. If your water bill is unusually high, there’s a chance that you have a leak. A good place to start checking is your toilet. Here’s a simple way to check whether your toilet is leaking:

Drop a few drops of food colouring into the tank.

Wait 20 – 30 minutes.

If you see colour in your toilet bowl, you have a running toilet leak.
Don’t have any food colouring handy? Inspect the inside of your toilet bowl with a flashlight. If you see lines of water streaming down your bowl, you’ve got a leak.
