Many air conditioner issues could be fixed by running through a simple troubleshooting checklist. Review the following, it may even save you a service call.
- Filter: Is your filter dirty? A clogged or blocked filter could reduce cool air entering your home and even cause the unit to stop working.
- Thermostat: Turn the thermostat to ‘cool’ and set the temperature 3-5 degrees below the current room temperature. Don’t turn the thermostat lower than that to start it or it could cause additional issues.
- Double check service switches: Have they been turned off by accident?
- Circuit breakers: Inspect your circuit box for a tripped breaker and reset it.
- Vents: Your vents should be open and have space between them to allow airflow.
- Check outdoor air conditioner unit: For proper airflow, remove landscaping and clear away any debris.
